Voice Dance Company began in March 1999 when the Director Eileen Dalrymple emigrated here with her family from Scotland. Eileen left behind an established dance company in Scotland who had performed in schools, theatres and churches and had just completed a tour to Northern Ireland to perform "St. Patrick", the life story of Ireland’s patron saint.
Eileen and her family settled in West Auckland and she began dance classes immediately. These classes were made available to the community of TeAtatu and surrounding district. Warren O’Connor the Pastor of Te Atatu Baptist at that time was instrumental in helping establish the Dance Company and in fact performed in their second production as Pharoah in "Exodus". By the end of 2000 the Dance Company now called "Tomorrow’s Revelation Dance Co." had over 50 members and had performed 3 productions, "Impressions of Heaven", "Exodus" and "Close Encounters of the Angelic Kind".
Eileen and her eldest daughter Amy were the main dance teachers and choreographers in the company for the first three years. Eileen and Amy taught rhythmic gymnastic dance skills as well as ribbon dancing. (Eileen had both taught and judged rhythmic gymnastics at a national level in Scotland). They expanded this style of dance to incorporate dancing with various apparatus such as chiffons, flags, candles, swords and shields. Drama became an important part of the company’s repertoire and this encouraged more boys to become involved with the group.
During the next three years the company expanded to between eighty and ninety members and performed another 9 productions. "The Valley of Dry bones" (Ezekiel’s prophecy), "St.Patrick", "Word on the Street", "Christmas Nativity" (junior production) "Easter Enigma", "Through the Veil", "The Miracle Maker", "Towards the Light" and "Angels on Assignment".
In January of 2003 the Dance Company transferred its location to Liberty Christian Church in Avondale. In 2004 the group received a new vision from the Lord based on Is 40 v 3. "A Voice in the wilderness cries "Prepare ye the way of the Lord". They changed their name to Voice Production Company to embrace this new calling and also to emphasize the strong drama content in most of their productions.
As the company expanded new teachers were added to the group. They brought with them skills in different areas. Teachers were also seconded to the group to teach particular styles of dance such as ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop.
Over the years Eileen has successfully taught the dancers the skills of choreography and the company now has a number of innovative and artistic choreographers in the senior team. The Dance Company choreograph all their own dances to suit the needs of the ongoing production and a heavy emphasis is placed on interpreting the words of the music and on dramatic presentation.
More recently the senior team have performed in different areas of New Zealand, touring for up to 10 days at a time. They continue to reach out to the community by performing in shopping malls, schools and theatres and believe the Lord wants them to perform in overseas locations.
